Services We Offer
Our ILD team offers a comprehensive, individualized, multi-disciplinary approach to patients who have one of these complex fibrotic lung diseases. We work closely with our colleagues in Pulmonary Hypertension, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Radiology, Pathology, Thoracic Surgery, and Lung Transplantation. This collaborative approach allows us to both identify the specific type of ILD, and to develop an optimal treatment plan. Our comprehensive review offers:
- Regular multi-disciplinary conference review of individual cases
- Referral to other disciplines as necessary (Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Pulmonary Hypertension, or Lung Transplantation)
- Referral to a Pulmonary Rehabilitation program closest to the patient's residence
- Assessment of the need for oxygen, and provision of oxygen liter flow prescription for rest, activity, and sleep
- Assistance with appropriate oxygen travel arrangements
- Communication of a treatment plan to local, community physicians
- Patient education regarding diagnosis, oxygen therapy, and medications
- Assistance with home care, palliative care, hospice care, or other end-of-life needs
- Symptom management strategies for cough and shortness of breath
- Bi-monthly Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group meetings
- Assessment of eligibility for clinical research trials
- Referral for Lung Transplantation evaluation
