Pulmonary and Critical Care In the Department of Medicine

Seminar: Understanding Pulmonary Fibrosis

300 patients and family members attended "Understanding Pulmonary Fibrosis," a patient education seminar that was co-hosted by UC Davis, UC San Francisco, and Stanford University on 3/7/09 at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center on Stanford's campus.

Expert speakers from all three institutions discussed topics related to the diagnosis and management of different interstitial lung diseases which can cause pulmonary fibrosis, or scarring in the lung. Exhibitors from Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs, Support Groups, Oxygen companies, and Home Care Providers were also there to answer questions and provide information for attendees. It was a great opportunity for patients and their families to gain information and support. This event was made possible by InvaCare, California Home Medical Equipment, InterMune, Gilead, Genzyme, Apria HealthCare, The Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Celgene. A special thank you also to Skyline College Respiratory therapy Student Volunteers.
