The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) is dedicated to both sharing expertise within Stanford and collaborating at national and international levels. Support groups have been formed for patients with Interstitial Lung Diseases, Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), Mycobacterium avium intracellulare (MAI), and Pulmonary Hypertension (PH).
Faculty members give lectures as part of the Health and Human Disease class for medical students, and several faculty have received Department of Medicine teaching awards. Other contributions to the University include serving on the Department of Medicine Quality Assurance Committee and the Arts & Humanities Medical Scholars Committee.
PCCM faculty lecture in the United States and Europe, and present research findings at meetings of professional organizations including the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), the American Thoracic Society (ATS), and the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation (ISHLT). Many faculty review articles for publications which focus on respiratory diseases, research, and treatments including the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, American Journal of Transplantation, and Chest.
